New relief money is on its way to Peoria

$20.7M in process to the city, will cover effects of pandemic

Peoria has received a portion of its relief funds from the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act, and now the city will begin allocation to those most in need.

In total, the city will receive $20.7 million in direct aid — $10.38 million was delivered May 11 and the same amount will be delivered in May of 2022.

Allowable uses include funding for the economic impact of COVID-19 expenses, essential workers, fiscal deficits caused by the pandemic as well as water, sewer and broadband infrastructure
