Queen Creek Police begin hiring recruits, buying vehicles

With just months to go before it begins operations, the Queen Creek Police Department has entered a new phase.

The city is looking to hire new recruits to join the fledgling police department in entry-level positions as officers. Previously, Police Chief Randy Brice was on the hunt for sergeants making a lateral move from other police departments. He is still recruiting those, but now he is looking for new officer recruits to fill seven so-called “point-of-entry” level positions.

“We started with laterals but we want to make sure that we have a good diverse group that also allows for good succession planning, so we don't have everybody retiring at once,” Mr. Brice said. “So, it's not only meeting the needs today it's looking forward at the needs for 10 years down the road.”
