The Queen Creek Town Council seated the new mayor and two members during a swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Mayor Julia Wheatley, Council Member Bryan McClure and Council Member Travis Padilla were sworn in for their first terms. Council Member Dawn Oliphant was sworn in for her fourth term. Wheatley also reappointed Council Member Jeff Brown as vice mayor. He served in that capacity last year, helming the council during former Mayor Gail Barney’s illness and death in June.
“I am thrilled to be serving the community that I love so much in this new capacity,” Wheatley said during the meeting. “And I am excited to do it alongside this council -- a special welcome to our newest members, Bryan and Travis. We are committed to the success of Queen Creek, and I know we are all looking forward to the year ahead!”
