New public art display goes up inside Glendale City Hall

Painting part of Valley project in six cities

Glendale’s City Hall has new public art on prime display.

The city worked earlier this year with IN FLUX, a Valley nonprofit that supports Arizona artists. The mission involves developing temporary public art installations in six Valley cities — in Glendale’s case, displaying a new work in City Hall’s entrance lobby directly behind the security desk as visitors enter.

The project yielded a work entitled “Big Wall Big Art,” and was commissioned to Tucson artist Heather Bentz, whose eight-by-10 foot concept was favored by the Glendale arts commission, which unanimously approved her design.
