New Phoenix shelter for homeless seniors receives continued funding

A new emergency shelter in Phoenix for seniors experiencing homelessness has received continued funding.

The Phoenix Community Development and Investment Corp. voted to provide continued grant funding to Central Arizona Shelter Services’ Project Haven II. The shelter, which is in the former Phoenix Inn, northwest of Interstate 17 and Northern Avenue, opened in January.

“We immediately filled that place up,” CASS CEO Nathan Smith said regarding the 130-room shelter.
