The new Peoria City Council was sworn in Jan. 3 at city hall with a packed chamber offering standing ovations for outgoing former Mayor Cathy Carlat and incoming Mayor Jason Beck.
Beck thanked former Councilmember Vicki Hunt and City Manager Jeff Tyne, who has announced his resignation from the city, for their many years of service, as well as Carlat for her guidance of the city during an expansive period of growth.
“The city has grown under [Carlat’s] watch,” Beck said. “It is extremely important that is not only recognized now, but recognized in the future.”
