New painting exhibit in Phoenix celebrates beauty in the natural world

‘Contemplation’ opens Oct. 2 inside Olney Gallery

A new exhibit of paintings designed to showcase the beauty and joy in the natural world is on its way to Phoenix.

Dair Deckert and Ann Osgood present “Contemplation,” which will be on display from Monday, Oct. 2 through Thursday, Oct. 26 at Olney Gallery at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 100 W. Roosevelt St.

Deckert’s paintings are abstract and impressionistic landscapes in bright, bold colors, a press release explains. She says this exhibit will “celebrate the glimmers we often overlook and to take joy about who and what we are, reminding us of the good already present in our life.”

Deckert received an art degree at the University of Michigan and studied art in Italy, Paris and France.

Osgood’s paintings present an experience of being alone in nature.

“Pax Natura, peace through nature, is the feeling I wish to convey in my landscape paintings. I wish to envelop the viewer in the scene,” she stated.

Osgood has a fine arts degree from the University of Hawaii and won first place in the 2018 Sonoran Desert Plein Air Event.

The gallery will host a First Friday event from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 6, and is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m. to noon Sundays, and Fridays by appointment.

Works by Ann Osgood, pictured, will be featured in “Contemplation” in downtown Phoenix.
