New Loop 101 lane marks progress on widening project

Crews have opened a new lane as part of the $140 million Loop 101 widening project.

A stretch of the new fourth westbound general purpose lane has opened between Interstate 17 and 51st Avenue, state transportation officials said.

“The additional lane provides an early look at how the entire Loop 101 project will improve the flow of traffic when construction is completed by spring 2027,” an Arizona Department of Transportation release stated.
