New life for Metrocenter takes shape

The first look at a redeveloped Metrocenter mall was shown off to the public Thursday amid a gathering of city of Phoenix officials and developers aiming to breathe new life into the site that was once the biggest mall in the state.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, Chris Mackay, the city economic development director and Councilwoman Ann O’Brien spoke about how excited they were to help transform the mall into something lively and spirited again.

In November 2022, the Phoenix City Council approved an $850 million redevelopment and revitalization project at the former mall with Concord Wilshire Capital and TLG Investment Partnership with CDS Internationals Holdings Inc., according to a press release.
