New exhibition depicting ‘reality of womanhood’ coming to Phoenix

‘Tell Me Lies’ opens on Grand Avenue in upcoming First Friday event

Five15Arts will present “Tell Me Lies,” a solo exhibition by Amy Menousek, opening in April.

“Tell Me Lies” confronts the lived reality of womanhood within a patriarchal system that demands submission while denying full humanity, a press release notes. As a conceptual fiber and mixed-media artist, Menousek works with materials historically coded as feminine to expose how women’s bodies, labor, and identities are controlled and consumed.

The exhibition will open with a First Friday event from 6 to 9 p.m. on April 3 at Five15Arts, 1301 NW Grand Ave., in Phoenix. It will be on display through April 26.
