A new exhibit, “Mixed Media Metaphors,” which showcases the works of two artists, is coming to a downtown art gallery.

Olney Gallery, located inside Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, at 100 W. Roosevelt St., will display the new exhibition from Monday, Sept. 30 through Thursday, Oct. 24. A First Friday reception starts at 6 p.m. on Oct. 4.

Yunie LeNoue is a printmaker and painter. In this mixed media art exhibit, she is interested in fish as an archetype for human motivations.

“Like humans, fish are vulnerable alone but convey great power in their unified multitudes,” she shared in a gallery press release.

LeNoue uses simple elements to convey complexity in form and message and relies on contrasting colors, bold lines, and clear divisions between generous spaces dedicated to subject and context. LeNoue earned a BA and MFA at Chungnam National University in Daejeon, Korea.

Kristin Wesley is a mixed-media artist. She enjoys manually plasma-cut repurposed steel sculpture employing biomorphic imagery and using gardens and plants as existential metaphors. Wesley is fascinated by the emotive interactions of color and light, entropically evolving patterns, and expressive use of color.

“I use my work to recognize the power of potential, to encourage self-reflection, and to celebrate hope,” she states.

Wesley holds concurrent Bachelor’s Degrees in Fine Art Intermedia and the Interdisciplinary Studies of Psychology and Philosophy from Arizona State University.

The Olney Gallery is open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to noon Sundays, and Fridays by appointment.
