New downtown Phoenix health center receives funding

A new health center in downtown Phoenix specializing in uninsured patients is receiving grant funding.

Wesley Community & Health Centers is partnering with Friendly House to build the Mary Rose Wilcox Health Center at Friendly House, named in honor of the former Phoenix City Council member and Maricopa County supervisor.

The center, at the northwest corner of Central Avenue and Hadley Street, will be a two-story, 30,000-square-foot facility just south of downtown. The nonprofit Friendly House, which has facilities to the north and west of the property, plans to add housing to the project later.
