Tempe has opened the doors to a new cooling center for residents to make use of this summer, with plans to offer other community services beyond respite from the heat.
Having received funding through the American Rescue Plan Act, the city has opened its EnVision Center at 1310 E. Apache Blvd., a one-stop resource center designed to assist community members in accessing their unique needs.
Through Sept. 30, the center will operate as a cooling center daily from 12 to 8 p.m., offering water and other resources for people out on the street. According to a press release, the city and its nonprofit partners now have nine heat relief locations across the city.
