New approach leads to better care for child sex trafficking victims

A new approach to looking after victims of child sex trafficking in Arizona has helped ensure children get the care they need, according to a study of the program’s first three years.

“We saw just some really, really incredible outcomes,” Sarah Way, human trafficking project manager for Mercy Care, told Phoenix’s Human Trafficking Task Force Wednesday morning.

Way, one leader of the Maricopa County Sex Trafficking Collaborative, said this approach keeps child victims from falling through the cracks in the system and makes sure their trauma is properly addressed.
