Apache Junction’s new police chief, Michael Pooley, is to be sworn-in at a ceremony Jan. 31.
The event begins at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.
It includes the city manager seeking ratification of Pooley for appointment to the position of chief of police, as required by the Apache Junction City Code; and introductions and swearing in of Pooley as chief of police.

Apache Junction’s new police chief, Michael Pooley, is to be sworn-in at a ceremony Jan. 31.
The event begins at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.
It includes the city manager seeking ratification of Pooley for appointment to the position of chief of police, as required by the Apache Junction City Code; and introductions and swearing in of Pooley as chief of police.
Pooley’s last job was as an assistant chief of the Tempe Police Department. The 20-year police veteran is taking over from Chief Thomas E. Kelly who retired after nearly 50 years of service in public safety, including the last eight years as police chief in Apache Junction.
