Tempe has adopted a new ethical artificial intelligence policy that will ensure the city is committed to the responsible usage of AI solutions as more people locally and nationally begin to rely on such technological advancements.
With the growing reliance on AI technologies like ChatGPT, the city of Tempe considered this policy to protect transparency, fairness, accountability and the protection of individual rights in all AI-related activities conducted by the city.
At a June 15 city council meeting, Tempe City Council authorized the resolution that would allow the city manager to establish this new policy on consent. Given its recent consideration and the developing AI industry, the city will periodically review and update it as necessary.
