New 303 interchange may relieve Grand traffic in northwest Valley

Transportation groups, cities work to alleviate problems now and in future

The Maricopa Association of Governments and Arizona Department of Transportation are taking a closer look at relieving congestion along Grand Avenue between Loop 303 and 163rd Avenue.

Brad Williams, a project manager for MAG, said a new Loop 303 interchange east of Grand Avenue is expected to provide the most relief.

“The situation today has reached a critical point and more action is needed,” Williams said a virtual meeting earlier this month. “Safety is a real concern. There’s real frustration with the current situation.”
