Plan to fill in part of Scottsdale golf course with homes draws residents' ire

Owner says he has plan to improve course

Tom Hillman doesn’t want approximately 5.25 acres of Starfire Golf Club right behind his home redeveloped into houses.

Tom and Lou Ann Hillman love the home they have lived in on North Sundown Drive for the past 26 years.

“We’re pinching ourselves how lucky we got to happen to be in the market and they happen to be selling,” said Tom, who, with Lou Ann, is only the home's second owner.

The midcentury modern home was built in the 1960s and boasts a pool and tennis court on a 1.5-acre lot that abuts the Starefire Golf Club’s ninth hole.
