OPINION — Enforcing immigration laws are what presidents have been doing for decades.
What’s different? In many places in U.S., the apprehension of persons here illegally, especially those with criminal intent, past or present, goes fairly smoothly. Why? Because local law enforcement works with the federal officers to get criminals off the street.
But some places call themselves sanctuary cities or states, which means federal officers have to do it alone with no local help. And now, protesters have begun interfering with federal officers — some criminally — which complicates the apprehensions.
