My U.S. 60 traffic solution — stop building

Posted

OPINION — I moved to Wittmann over 40 years ago. U.S. 60 was a two-lane highway, and traffic was simple.

Housing was nonexistent and Bell Road stopped at the Roy Rogers facility. Whoever planned the horrid mess we are dealing with today was not thinking ahead.

Today, U.S. 60 (Grand Avenue) looks like New York City or Los Angeles, places we were told Phoenix authorities never wanted to look like. And now we are choking on traffic and pollution.

We are told to conserve water, but the planning commission people agree to more and more business and residential construction.

Simple solution — stop building.
