MusicaNova Orchestra announced its lineup for the upcoming 2025–26 season with performances to come at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Tempe Center for the Arts, and its Chamber Series at Orangewood Presbyterian Church.
MusicaNova Orchestra is a professional ensemble that features new music, neglected pieces, and fresh interpretations of classics.

“Not Quite Dead White Man Music”

Featuring Evan Williams’ “Dead White Man Music,” a 21st-century harpsichord concerto blending Bach with Nina Simone and Julius Eastman, performed by ASU’s Tigran Buniatyan. Also on the program is Valerie Coleman’s tribute to the Trail of Tears, “Freedmen of the Five Civilized Tribes,” Tania León’s “Afro-Cuban Permutation Seven,” and music by Hindemith.

Cellist Peter Eom performs Giovanni Sollima’s “L.B. Files,” reimagining Boccherini with modern techniques. The program continues with Lera Auerbach’s 21st-century take on Pergolesi, Perkinson’s string masterpiece “Sinfonietta No. 2,” and Grieg’s beloved “Holberg Suite.”

Lyricism and spirituality unite in Sibelius’ “pure spring water” Symphony No. 6, Gabriela Lena Frank’s “Concertino Cusqueño,” Carter Pann’s “My Cross for Saxophone and Orchestra” with ASU’s Christopher Creviston, Polevá’s lament “Bucha: Lacrimosa,” and a world premiere by MusicaNova Composition Fellow Cheng Jin Koh.

Yamaha artist Christopher Creviston has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the Apollo Theater. He is an ASU professor and North American Saxophone Alliance President.
