Muriel Elizabeth King

SUN CITY - Muriel Elizabeth King was born May 15, 1917 in Buffalo, N.Y., to Clayton Emmett Bedell and Grace Pearl Bedell (Parker). Muriel passed away peacefully on April 29, 2011, while at the odyssey Hospice care facility in Sun City, where she had received excellent care. Muriel raised four sons, Roger Allen Lackore, Jerold Madden King, Bradley Wayne King (Proceeded her in death), and Gregory Brian King. She was also proud of her great-grandson, Clayton Joseph King. Muriel graduated from High School in Rocheste New York and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class. In Muriel's early years she would spend the summers in Ows Head, N.Y., with her grandparents on the family property where she cultivated her love of nature. She joined the Conservation Core after graduating from college, traveling all over the Southeastern united States. Her early training and education at the Alviene School of Theater graduating in 1936 were in theater, dance, music and acting. In New York 1937, when 20 years old, she joined the Federal Theater project as an actress and Puppeteer. In the 1940's she danced in a show girl line at the Waldorf, St. George, and St. Regis Hotels in New York and Washington and the Tophat and Regis night clubs in New Jersey, During WWII she danced with the USO. Muriel professionally was involved in Real Estate in Oakland California. She was 'Sales person of the Year' on numerous occasions. Muriel was past President as well a past Director of Oakland Real estate board. She was past President of the Oakland Woman's Council of the NAREB. In addition she was a state hostess and event planner for the California State Board of Realtors. While in Real Estate she took time to organize, MCF and perform in many charity shows for Vet's (USO). She was a member of the Eastern Star. In 1989 Muriel Retired and moved to Arizona as a single woman and established her home, pursued her intellectual, cultural, and artistic longing with great success. Muriel and her family are very proud of her dramatic success and grateful for the recognition and support from Theater West allowing the pursuit of her life long passion for the performing arts. Muriel is known and respected as a performer in dance, acting, and humor. She is well know as an acting coach, improv instructor, and director. Muriel also really enjoyed her time as a member of the "Rhythm Tappers" and danced her way all over the world in an International cultural exchange program. Muriel also enjoyed being a "Bell Ringer" at the Desert Garden united Church. In the spirit of her loving ways she has dedicated her remains to Science Care. Memorial Services are 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2011 At Desert Garden United Church 18818 N. 128th Ave, Sun City West, AZ 85375. Refreshment & Memorial Tribute Performance from 12 p.m. - open (Church fellowship Hall) Theater West.
