Murder-suicide reported in Apache Junction

An Apache Junction teenager called 911 Sunday to report his father shot his mother, police said.

“Last night our officers responded to a terrible tragedy,” AJPD Chief Michael Pooley said in a statement on Facebook @ApacheJunctionPD.

“On June 12 around 8 p.m. AJPD received a 911 call from a 13-year-old male stating his father just shot his mother multiple times. Officers responded to the residence in the area of Tomahawk Road and Superstition Boulevard where they located both the suspect deceased with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and his wife who had also been shot. Officers located the victim in the residence and provided lifesaving measures which were unsuccessful,” it states.
