While residents of the Eagle Heights development in Glendale’ northwest corner are not overjoyed by the likelihood of townhomes and apartments coming in across the street at Broadstone Arrowhead, they are amenable to the development if a couple conditions are met.
Their primary concern was a stipulation included by city staff in a motion to rezone the 19-acre parcel from agricultural to planned-area development. If approved, the stipulation would require developer Alliance Residential Co. to continue a trail system along the east side of the New River and connect this trail to Eagle Heights’ private trail.
Four of the six Eagle Heights residents to speak during the March 27 Glendale Planning Commission meeting said they supported the development but linking to the private trail would be a deal breaker. Brian Greathouse of Burch & Cracchiolo, representing Alliance, said the developer supports the trail stipulation being removed in honor of its agreement with the residents to the north.
