Mowry family says goodbye to Scottsdale’s ‘oldest oak tree’

Physical and sentimental roots of Scottsdale are being removed this week, as a large 80-year-old oak tree at the Mowry’s former family home in Old Town is being cut down.

Known unofficially as Scottsdale’s “oldest oak tree,” the large tree was planted around the early 1940s in the backyard of the Mowry family house at 6936 E. Main St.

The Mowry family says the tree can’t be saved, and is being removed to prevent damage to the surrounding properties.
