Motorists to see road closures at Avondale Boulevard and Lower Buckeye Road

Drivers encouraged to use alternate route

The city of Avondale announced that an ongoing construction project at the intersection of Avondale Boulevard and Lower Buckeye Road won’t be completed until October.

The project involves roadway improvements and the installation of a new traffic signal.

One of the phases of the work, which involves relocating and undergrounding SRP facilities, was impacted by weather conditions and has caused some delays. To keep the project on schedule, the southbound and northbound lanes of Avondale Boulevard between Lower Buckeye Road and Miami Avenue will be temporarily closed on weekends.

These closures will occur from Friday at 10 p.m. to Sunday at 10 p.m. on the following dates: February 3-5, February 10-12, and February 17-19, 2023. One lane in each direction will be opened for normal traffic after 10 p.m. on Sunday until the following Friday at 10 p.m.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to proceed with caution while driving through the construction zone. They are encouraged to use alternate routes on 107th Avenue and El Mirage Road to avoid the construction area.

For information, call the project hotline at 602-235-2896.
