Motorcyclist dies after multiple vehicles strike him on Loop 101
Posted
State troopers are investigating after a motorcyclist was struck and killed on a Valley freeway.
The collision involved four vehicles and occurred Tuesday morning on Loop 101 east of 51st Avenue.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said a motorcycle traveling eastbound was rear-ended by a vehicle, causing the motorcyclist to be ejected. DPS said the motorcyclist was then struck by another vehicle and a commercial vehicle.
The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. DPS said the drivers of the other vehicles were not injured, stayed on-scene and are working with investigators.
Troopers on-scene are investigating and are blocking the right lanes of Loop 101.
No criminal charges are pending at this time.
Once troopers have notified the next-of-kin they will release the name of the motorcyclist.
