A motorcyclist died at a hospital Monday after colliding with a pickup truck at the intersection of Guadalupe and Rural roads, Tempe police said.
The motorcyclist and passenger were traveling west on Guadalupe when the driver failed to stop at a red light and crashed into the pickup which, police said, was traveling east on Guadalupe. The truck driver was legally positioned to make a left turn.
“It appeared the red-light violation was the result of the motorcyclist attempting to ‘beat the light’ as he entered the intersection at over 60 mph after the signal changed to red,” a Tempe Police Department release stated.
