Mother, newborn die after weekend crash in Phoenix

Two vehicles collided at about 11:30 p.m. June 20 near Loop 101 and 19th Avenue, leading to the deaths of woman and her baby who was delivered at a hospital, police said.

Police officers arrived at the crash scene and found a woman “who was far along with her pregnancy” and in critical condition, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

Phoenix Fire Department personnel took the unidentified woman to a hospital where the baby was delivered. Both mother and child were pronounced dead.
