Minimum wage raise supporters showcase Glendale ties

Proposition 499 canvass launches

Opponents of Proposition 499 on Glendale residents’ ballots have derided the measure looking to raise the minimum wage for hotel and event center workers in the city to $20 an hour.

The measure, which also would require the city to set up a department of labor standards, has been decried as a California import with little knowledge of the situation on the ground in Glendale.

But on Oct. 28, eight days before the election, organizers Worker Power gathered canvassers, residents and Valley leaders at West Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Glendale, for a decidedly local canvass launch.
