Miller: No sense in arguing with Sun City West recall proponents

In any community the size of Sun City West there is a distribution of opinion on how well the community is managed that follows the shape of a bell-shaped curve.

On one end of the curve are those that believe management (including the board) can do no wrong. On the other end of the curve is the group that believe management (including the board) can do no right. In the middle is the group that feels things are done reasonably well and that their expectations of the management team are being meet. It should be noted that both ends of the curve represent small portions of the total population with the majority being the group in the middle.

It would appear to me that the organizers and supporters of the recall petitions belong to the group that feels that management can do nothing right. My experience with groups such as this demonstrates that nothing you can say or do will change their minds, so don’t even bother. They have “their facts” and no amount of additional information or data will change their position. It is the group in the middle, the majority, that will determine the outcome of any recall election. They will do their homework, form their own opinion as opposed to being told what to think, and will vote in the way they feel is appropriate. That is what I did and why I do not support the recall. I have confidence that common sense will prevail.
