Miller: Calls for new leadership for state GOP

Posted

As a result of President Trump’s recent controversial statements and — especially since the riots at the US Capitol — there have been many concerns expressed in the media, such as in the recent full-page ad by Greater Phoenix Leadership about various Republicans and also about the Republican Party in general. As a lifelong registered Republican and Republican state committeeman, I share some of those concerns.

I believe we need a change in our party leadership, and I have decided to support our Republican State Treasurer Bob Lettieri for the office of party chair. The negative impact of the GPL editorial and similar concerns expressed by others will likely be on the GOP’s future fundraising. Fortunately, finance is Bob’s primary area of strength, and I hope that my fellow Republican State Committee members will agree that a change is needed and support Bob.

By way of additional background, below is an endorsement that I have been sending to Arizona Republicans involved in this process:

As President Reagan said many years ago, this is a time for choosing. My name is Roy Miller. I am a state committeeman, and I am supporting Bob Lettieri for party chairman.

I came to Arizona from the Air Force Academy in 1967 to fly at Williams Air Force Base and never left. I am a lifelong registered Republican and I have been active in the Arizona Republican Party for 45 years, beginning with many roles in Young Republicans and later in the senior party as a precinct committeeman, precinct captain, registrar, state committeeman, national delegate, platform chair, resolutions chair, state presidential campaign chair (for Ron Paul) and several other roles.

I believe that Bob Lettieri is just the person we need to help heal wounds in our party. He is not as photogenic as Kelli Ward (our current chair) or as well-known or even as experienced in party matters, but he is sincerely interested in serving and has an outstanding financial background. He is a conservative and is someone who rescued our party finances from possible severe sanctions.

Bob will use these skills to keep our party financially sound and headed in the right direction, while doing his best to avoid needless controversy.

I am making calls and sending emails to my fellow state committeemen on Bob’s behalf and would invite you, if you can help, to contact me at (602) 254-4648, RMiller451@aol.com or to contact Bob directly at (602) 316-5962, BobLettieri@outlook.com.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Cordially,

Roy Miller
