Tempe’s Mill Avenue will close July 21-26 in preparation for a new Mill Avenue gateway sign.

While a southbound closure is already in place, a northbound closure will be added between University Drive and Seventh Street.

The closure will not allow through traffic from University, however the crosswalks will not be affected.

The street will reopen the morning of Sunday, July 27, with a possibility of opening sooner. Access to businesses on the northeast corner of Mill and University will be maintained through the existing alley.

Valley Metro buses and streetcar services will detour to stop at Ninth Street and Mill Avenue. Left turns in that area will be restricted.

The Downtown Tempe Refresh is the first major change to infrastructure in over 40 years. This includes updating electrical lines and irrigation, new paving and sidewalks and 112 new trees.
