Why we're honoring military spouses on May 8

West Valley group joins the nation in celebrating those married to U.S. servicemembers for their contributions, support and sacrifice

OPINION — The Luke Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America invites Arizonans to remember U.S. military spouses on May 8.

Based out of West Valley, the chapter joins others in recognizing and celebrating the loyalty, strength and dedication of military spouses.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan named the Friday before Mother’s Day as Military Spouse Recognition and Celebration Day. This year that day is May 8, a day that recognizes the significant contributions, support and sacrifices of the spouses of the U.S. Armed Forces.
