PEORIA - Mildred Olegar was born in Akron, Ohio on July 22, 1920. She died on Oct. 26, 2016. She lived many places throughout the world, primarily Akron, Ohio; New Martinsville, W.Va.; Rome, Italy; Tokyo, Japan; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Sun City, where she lived for over 33 years. She raised two children, David Olegar and Diane Quinn. They survive her, as do her niece, Linda Patton, of Sun City West; David's children, Matthew and Kelsey; nephews, Charles Olegar, Brian, Kevin and Bruce Austin; and niece Sharon Edwards. She was married to Peter Olegar until his death in 2003. Along with raising two children in locations throughout the world, she had jobs as varied as her personality. She worked at a PPG chemical plant in Natrium, W.Va., during the late 1940's and was told they needed three people to replace her when she quit. She taught English to Japanese students in Tokyo, managed a fitness club in Pittsburgh and sold knitwear in Rome. She was an active part of the Sun City community, volunteering her time in numerous places, primarily Benevilla and All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church. Her memorial will be at All Saints, 9502 W. Hutton Dr., Sun City, AZ 85351, at 1 p.m on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016. Condolences for the family may be left at www.menkefuneralhome.com.
