Mildred Marie Ekvall

SUN CITY - Mildred Marie Ekvall passed away the afternoon of Dec. 18, 2013. She was born on Feb. 8, 1918 in Milwaukee, Wis. but spent a good portion of her adult life in Lombard, Ill. Mil was a graduate of Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee and worked full-time as a bookkeeper until her retirement and move to Sun City in 1977. Mil thoroughly enjoyed her retirement and became active in several choirs and clubs. She sang with The Choraliers until age 90, when she decided it was time to become a member of the audience. Even when her body began to fail her, her spirit remained strong and her smile never faltered. She is survived by her daughter, Kristin Reiner of Palatine, Ill.; several nieces and nephews, including niece, Linda (Len) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and her wonderful caregiver, Towanda Daniels. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bill Ekvall. A joint memorial service for both Bill and Mil will be held on February 28th, 2014 at United Church of Sun City.
