Mildred Elizabeth Nichols Dohm

SUN CITY - Mildred Elizabeth Nichols "Nicki" Dohm, passed away on Oct. 31, 2010, at the age of 93, in Sun City. Born in St. Paul, Minn., on Jan. 28, 1917, to Charles A. Nichols and Ida Wold Nichols, Nicki married Gerald Cody Dohm in June of 1940 in St. Paul. They lived in St. Paul before moving to Dallas, Texas, during World War II, then to East Grand Forks in 1945 and Crookston, Minn., in 1957, retiring to Sun City in 1978. Nicki worked at Town & Country Dress Shop in Crookston, Minn., for many years and was a member of Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Crookston, Minn., and Elizabeth Seaton Catholic Church in Sun City, where she was an usher for many years. She was active in many clubs, some of which were: Spin Offs, Red Hat, Daughters of Colonial Wars, National Society of New England Women, National Society of Colonial Daughters of the 17th Century, Daughters of American Colonists, National Society of the Magna Carta Dames and Barons, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames XVII, Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, Crookston Hospital Auxiliary… She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, and husband Gerald (1986). Nicki is survived by sons, Gerald C. Dohm, Jr. (Mary) of Wilmington, Ill., Neil P. Dohm (Linda) of Forest Lake, Minn., Brian N. Dohm (Judy) of New Prague, Minn., ten grandsons and seven great-grandchildren. Private interment took place in Sun City on Nov. 18, 2010, at Sunland Memorial. Nicki loved traveling to faraway places including Europe and Asia as well as visiting kids, family and friends throughout the US. And she is certified as having kissed the Blarney Stone. She loved to entertain, play bridge and engage people wherever she went. Nicki will always be remembered for her class, sense of style and her effervescence for life. And LuLu is back in Illinois from whence she came.
