Pet homelessness is a community issue that requires collaborative community engagement.  MCACC is hosting “Tag Your Wag: Microchipping & Licensing Event” from April 17-21. Both new licenses and microchips will be provided with waived fees thanks to a generous grant awarded to MCACC.

“Less than 20% of stray dogs who come into the shelter have a microchip, so it’s difficult for them to be returned to their owner. Both microchipping and licensing will help keep your pets safe and at home,” said Kim Powell, MCACC communications Oofficer.

Microchipping Details

  • Community dog event focusing on microchipping and providing new licenses
  • First come, first serve with a goal of 60 microchips per day
  • Microchips will be provided from 11am-12pm Monday, April 17 to Friday, April 21,  only at the West shelter,  2500 S. 27th Ave.
    • Limit 2 pets per owner

Licensing Details

  • New licenses will be available at no cost to you (please bring proof of Rabies vaccine) during regular business hours April 17-21 from 12-6pm at both shelter locations.
    • Dogs do not have to be there to  acquire a new license. Individuals should not bring a  dog to the shelter during normal business hours.

There are many benefits to having pets microchipped and licensed, including a free ride home if a pet is ever lost and picked up by an Animal Control officer.
