Michael P. Janis It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Michael P Janis a hardworking man for many years who passed peacefully in his Sun City West AZ home February 26th after living a full and rewarding life. Mike, “Iron Mike” was 85 years old. Mike was proceeded in death by his wife Joan just five months earlier. Mike was also preceded in death by his oldest son Joseph, his parents William and Benedicta Janis, and his two brothers Robert and William Janis. Mike married Joan in 1959 they raised their six children in the Chicagoland area for nearly 40 years before retiring to Arizona. Mike is survived by his children Michele, Mark, Paul, Christine, and Elizabeth. Mike is also survived by his 12 grandchildren who were the light and love of his life. Mike worked as an Iron Worker in the Iron Workers Local Union One since he was 18 years old and retired after 40 years of hard work. In his retirement Mike enjoyed travelling with his wife, he was active with the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, and graciously volunteered for years at the Valley View Food Pantry. Service for Mike will be held on April 9th at 1:30 pm at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, Arizona. A reception will follow the service at the Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that Mike would love a donation be made to the Valley View Food Pantry in Sun City West, AZ. Mike will be missed, but never forgotten.
