SUN CITY WEST - Michael Baltins, passed away on January 14, 2012, after a year-long fight with degenerating muscular problems. He was born April 1, 1926, in Riga, Latvia and during his youth saw his country invaded first by the Russians then by the Germans. The Russians took over at the end of the war and he was unable to return there for 50 years. England offered him a new start in life and he repaid their faith in him by remaining a British citizen even after living 10 years in Australia then 45 years in the United States. He worked in banking then also with the FDIC with a specialty in risk management. His home was in Northern California. He retired to Arizona in 1995 and met and married Patricia in 2000. He enjoyed photography, golf and world travel. He was able to renew his ties with his family in Latvia and visited them several times. His memorial service will be at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Sun City West, on February 4, 2012, at 10 a.m. Memorials may be sent to the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 13724 W.
