Michael J. Schmidt Beloved Husband and Father 1941 - 2022 On February 13, 2022 Michael Schmidt was promoted to Glory to be with Jesus his Lord and Savior. He died peacefully at home in Sun City, AZ of non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. He was 80 years old. Mike was born in Bishop, CA. He spent most of his youth in Phoenix and Glendale, AZ. As a teen he lived in Cottonwood and Camp Verde, AZ. He married his wife Linda in 1966 and they spent 55 fun and busy years attending college, working together and raising a handsome son and a beautiful daughter. He was drafted into the Army in 1967 and sent to Vietnam. He was wounded during the Tet offensive and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal. He attended Sierra College in Rocklin, CA where he received honors for Building Construction Engineering Draftsman and Master Engineering Draftsman leading to an Associate in Arts Degree. He then went on to California State University, Chico, CA earning his Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Arts and teaching credentials for both secondary and community colleges in Industrial Technology. While living in Chico with his family he started a housing design business, creating both residential and business floor plans and a beekeeping business providing pollination services throughout Butte, Glenn and Tehama Counties. He retired in 2002 to Oregon where he built his dream home in Waldport. Since 2012, he and his wife Linda have split their time between Oregon and Arizona. He attended Grace Community Church in Chico, CA, First Baptist Church in Waldport, OR and Grace Bible Church in Sun City, AZ. He served in many capacities including as an AWANA leader, choir member, Sunday school teacher, deacon and a building maintenance worker. He liked the challenge of riding on the sand dunes of Oregon in his RZR, as well as the back roads and desert areas of Arizona. He also enjoyed country dancing and line dancing in Sun City, in Oregon, and in other towns and states across the US. He was an avid RV-er and traveled all over the United States as he chauffeured his wife Linda, a rubber stamp artist and business owner, to rubber stamp shows all over the United States. Fishing and gardening were also high on his activity list. Mike was preceded in death by his father Mikie Schmidt and mother Fannie Bellows. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Linda Schmidt, his son Mikel Schmidt, his daughter Marcy Schmidt, his sister Patricia Watts, his brother Joe Schmidt and sister-in-law Jan Schmidt, his brother John Sharp, his brother George Kudlock Jr, and many nieces and nephews. An interment service will be held at the National Veterans Cemetery in Cave Creek with military honors. All are welcome to attend.

Location: National Memorial Cemetery 23029 N Cave Creek Road Phoenix,AZ This is a Veterans Cemetery. Mike will have military honors. The service will be 30 minutes long. They want everyone in place when they start at 9:00 AM. All of his friends are invited to attend. Western dress is encouraged.
