Mesa veterans nonprofit trying to get hangar back amid legal battles with city

The Falcon Warbirds Foundation has spent years operating out of Falcon Field Airport in Mesa, but the group’s time there may be in danger.

The nonprofit has held countless fly-bys for fallen or missing service members using vintage World War II planes at holidays and cemeteries. FWF has also held many movie nights and pancake breakfasts for the community out of Falcon Field, 4626 E. Fighter Aces Drive.

The foundation’s world was sent into a tailspin after a mid-air collision during a fly-by, an audit revealing funds allegedly moved to another nonprofit and a questionable motion for dissolution that has kicked the foundation out of its hangar — and left its future uncertain.
