Mesa to vote on increasing funding amounts for police-ASU partnership

The Mesa City Council is set to vote on entering a second amendment to an intergovernmental agreement for crime analysis between the city and Arizona State University at its upcoming meeting.

The measure will be part of a multi-item consent agenda during the council’s March 18 meeting taking place at 4 p.m. in the upper level of the City Council Chambers at 57 E. First St. in Mesa.

If approved, the city would pay ASU an increased amount so Mesa Police can continue to receive technical assistance and training on crime analysis from members of The Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety at ASU. The program originated in September 2022, and was extended after its expiration date in August 2023.
