Mesa schools to buy 250,000 gloves

Purchased for staff, students conducting cleaning

To meet the emergency need for nitrile gloves for staff and students for cleaning and disinfecting, Mesa Public Schools Governing Board recently approved paying $45,850.

The purchase of 250,000 gloves from two companies was approved unanimously Dec. 8 by the Governing Board in a consent agenda with other items.

The district is paying $30,850 to Opacs Inc. for 1,500 boxes of 100 extra-large nitrile gloves; and $15,000 to Sam Tell and Son Inc. for 1,000 boxes of 100 nitrile gloves — 500 boxes medium size and 500 boxes large size, according to district documents.
