The Mesa Unified School District spent $46 million of the funds it received from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act in the fiscal year ending June 30, with some going to technology and most going to salaries and benefits.
The funding sources included federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds, a state Enrollment Stability Grant and money from Mesa CARES, Chief Financial Officer Ken Alexander said during the Oct. 12 MUSD Governing Board meeting as part of a presentation on the 2020-21 annual financial report.
A total of $31,388,479 was used for salaries and benefits and $8,118,410 for supplies and other expenses from the ESG and ESSER funds, according to his presentation.
