Mark Atherstone of Mesa, a longtime HVAC industry professional, has joined the executive management team as chief distribution officer at Phoenix-based ECM Technologies, which provides HVAC efficiency and energy-conservation solutions.

He will oversee the commercial and residential distribution of ThermaClear, the company’s anti-thermal degradation technology that was recently named the winner of the 2023 International Facility Management Association Awards of Excellence, Facility Management Innovation Award, according to a release.

With nearly 40 years of experience in the HVAC industry, Atherstone has worked in virtually every facet of the heating and air-conditioning business. Most recently, he was vice president of training and sales with The Wrench Group LLC, a residential HVAC service company in the U.S.

“I can’t underscore enough the pivotal role Mark will play in advancing ECM Technologies’ ThermaClear to national and international utilization by commercial and residential HVAC companies,” David Fenton, chief revenue officer for ECM Technologies, said in the release. “Mark’s exceptional industry experience and knowledge has already been a significant value to the day-to-day operation of the business.”

ECM Technologies has treated thousands of systems. ThermaClear has been used in makes and models of major HVAC equipment ranging from half-ton mini-splits to 1,600-ton water-cooled chillers, with an average return on investment spanning just 12 to 36 months, the release states.

Facilities treated include Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Arizona State University, Transwestern’s Miami Tower, Penske Automotive Group, Phoenix Art Museum, city of Phoenix Fire and Police and JP Morgan Chase, it states.

“I was immediately impressed with the advanced technology, comprehensive validation processes demonstrated over the past five years and with the clear performance increases resulting from ThermaClear treatments. Providing a sustainability solution that equally benefits businesses and homeowners to effectively reduce energy costs and enhance equipment performance is exceptionally compelling.” Atherstone said in the release.
