The Mesa Public Schools governing board approved at its Dec. 10 meeting a $750,000 increase to a contract for purchasing new vehicles for the district’s food, operations and security departments.
The request was made by district Assistant Superintendent of Business and Support Services Scott Thompson, according to board documents. The contract, which uses various Valley-area car dealerships such as Sanderson Ford and Courtesy Chevrolet, initially was approved in May 2024 with a $1.5 million amount.
The requested increase would put the overall contract amount at $2.25 million, with it being primarily funded by expiring grand funds.
