Mesa Police submit charges in connection with shooting death of Maria Lewis

Detectives have conducted an investigation into the death of Lewis including the execution of multiple search warrants, interviews and forensic analysis.

Mesa Police detectives have submitted criminal charges following the investigation into the shooting death of 32-year-old Maria Lewis.

Officers responded to a welfare check Feb. 28 at a home near East Kinetic Drive and South Reliance Way where they found Lewis with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives have conducted an investigation into the death of Lewis including the execution of multiple search warrants, interviews and forensic analysis, it states in a release.
