Mesa police have not filed charges after an initial investigation into an alleged road-rage shooting death Sunday.
Felipe Cisneros, 49, died in the shooting that occurred about 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, near Dobson Road and Southern Avenue, police said Monday.
Officers arrived at a parking lot near the intersection where they found Cisneros, who was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
They spoke to the other person involved who told officers he and the victim exchanged words during a road-rage incident, police said.
Both vehicles pulled into the lot where Cisneros got out of his vehicle and approached the man with a knife.
The man told officers that is when he shot Cisneros and called 911.
Video surveillance was obtained that captured what occurred and corroborated the man’s statement, police said.
An open folding knife was near the victim’s body, according to authorities.
The Mesa Police Department said in a release that it is still investigating this case, but no charges have been filed.
