A 31-year-old man has been arrested after Mesa police say he shot and killed a woman early Sunday morning at a party.

Charles Norice has been accused in the slaying of 31-year-old Stephanie White.

Police responded just after midnight on June 11 to the 5600 block of East Flossmoor for reports of a shooting.

Witnesses told officers that Norice was in a fight with another man at the party. Both men went outside, and Norice pulled a gun from his vehicle, firing it into the air, police said in a release.

He then fired at the man, striking the victim who was standing behind him, police said.

Norice went back into the house where he pointed the gun at a few other partygoers, the release stated.

White was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

The Mesa Police Department’s helicopter helped officers find Norice in the backyard behind some bushes. A gun was recovered nearby, police said.

Norice was taken into custody and booked on one count of second-degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault and three counts of disorderly conduct.
